Studio
In short
A condominium unit in which living, sleeping and cooking share one room, with a separate bathroom. The smallest and lowest-priced unit type in most projects.
What it means
A studio has no separate bedroom. In new Thai projects it typically measures between about 22 and 35 square metres, with a kitchenette along one wall and a balcony. A "one-bedroom" has a bedroom that can be closed off, even where the wall is a sliding partition.
What to check
- The layout more than the area: a well-shaped 28 square metres can work better than an awkward 34.
- Where the bed goes, and whether there is storage.
- Ventilation for the kitchenette, since you sleep in the same room.
- How many studios the building has. Where they dominate, there is more competition for tenants and buyers.
